Product description

The Fenix HL18R compact rechargeable headlamp delivers up to 400 lumens (ANSI) and a range of up to 100 meters. Power is provided by a replaceable 1300 mAh lithium-polymer battery, which is charged via a micro-USB connector directly in the headlamp. The battery can be removed and replaced with three regular AAA batteries in an emergency (they cannot be recharged in the headlamp). The light source is a modern LED Cree XP-G3 with a warmer light shade, which is placed in the main reflector. Two white Everlight 2835 LEDs are used for additional illumination, creating a wide and very smooth cone of light.

A total of 7 power modes are available, including an SOS flash mode for crisis situations. The headlamp is also equipped with an extended endurance function. For extended use in the 400, 130, 70 and 30 lumen modes, the headlamp gradually reduces power in small increments to achieve longer light duration.

The advantage of the headlamp is also good waterproofness and dustproofness corresponding to IP66 standard. The headlamp strap is perforated and equipped with reflective elements that ensure good omnidirectional visibility when running on the road. With a weight of only 80 grams, the Fenix HL18R will serve well as a running headlamp as well as a headlamp for camping, hiking and other outdoor activities.

All headlamp parameters (luminous flux, battery life, waterproofness, range, and shock resistance) are measured in accordance with ANSI/NEMA FL 1-2009.

• It uses a powerful white LED Cree XP-G3 with a warmer light shade and two complementary LED Everlight 2835, both with a lifetime of 50000 hours.

Use

The main spotlight is switched on and off by pressing the right button for 0.5 seconds, the auxiliary LEDs are switched on and off by holding the left button. The headlamp always switches to the lowest mode, the other power levels can be switched at any time during operation by briefly pressing the corresponding button. The main spotlight and auxiliary LEDs cannot be activated simultaneously.

Indication of the battery charge status - after a short press of the left button (the headlamp must be switched off), the LED indicator of the battery charge status on the bottom of the headlamp is activated. Four lit LEDs mean the battery is over 80% charged, three lit 60-80%, two lit 40-60%, one lit 20-40%, and one flashing LED means the battery is less than 20% charged.

The control buttons can be locked to prevent spontaneous switching on, e.g. when transporting in luggage - keep both buttons pressed for 3 seconds. To unlock, hold both buttons again for 3 seconds.

Overheat protection - When operating on turbo mode for a long time, the headlamp will gradually reduce power to prevent overheating.

Charging

• Unclip the rubber cap of the micro USB connector on the bottom of the headlamp and use the included USB cable to plug it into a computer, power bank, USB AC adapter or USB car adapter. Alternatively, any mobile phone charger with a micro USB connector can be used for charging.
• During charging, the four indicator LEDs on the underside gradually light up, after a full charge they all light up permanently.
• Charging time for a fully discharged battery takes about 2.5 hours.
• The battery used does not suffer from memory effect, so the headlamp can be recharged at any time.
• Thoroughly seal the USB connector cap after each charge.
• During charging, the headlamp can be switched on, but only to the lowest mode.

Notice

• Do not disassemble the sealed parts yourself, this will violate the warranty.

• Never use different discharged AAA batteries or batteries with different capacities.

• Always check carefully that the batteries are inserted in the headlamp with the correct polarity.

• If the headlamp is flickering, not switching to higher power modes or not lighting up, it could be due to one of the following reasons:

  • The battery is almost dead - charge it.
