The road to the other side of the mountains is a mass of loose rocks, unstable scree, snowfields and climbing passages wrapped in steel rope. But these medium-stiff boots will help you find the right balance on tough terrain. The sole, which was lightly reinforced in the Asole, remained just flexible enough to hold semi-automatic crampons while still being comfortable to walk on the path or climb rocks. Small rock outcroppings can also be helped by a straight climbing toe. On sharp descents, the EVA cushioning in the heel section relieves the knees. And all the rigours of the high mountains are withstood by the durable Perwanger leather, reinforced with extra padding.
