Climbing skins
Ski-touring bands are among some of the most important parts of the equipment of each alpinists. Therefore, you should have paid great attention. Skialpinistické belts prevent back-gliding skis while pedaling through the snow at the exit of steep terrain. Before any exit to the hill are clamped to sklznicu ski and hike after just rip easily, stored in a pocket and can be preparing for a congress below. The core element of each strip, the material of which the strip produced. Previously it used as a basis sealskin but nowadays are enjoying great popularity especially mohair and nylon . In general we can say that mohair has better properties during freezing winters which provides excellent slip. A minor drawback is its lifespan compared to nylon belt. Nylon belts are again great for his climbing ability, but compared mohair is worse again slide along the snow surface. Great choice thus becomes a compromise between mohair and nylon, which is not a problem. Just jump into Adam Sport-in Ruzomberok or to our e-shop and choose bands that are combined (mohair / nylon - eg. Contour strips).
The strips also have their division. We know two basic types:
- Mohair bands - Mohair is a natural fiber, in which no major frosts affect the softness and flexibility . And it is Mr. Reto these bands recommended by competitors for racing use.
- Synthetic straps - basic material is nylon. They are used more for recreational alpine skiing.
- Combined strips - are made up of a combination of mohair and nylon at a ratio of 70% mohair 30% nylon.
The quality of ascension strips also determines the quality of the adhesive layer. This is achieved by adhesive technologies such as molecular adhesion (strip Gecko), bonded with conventional or hybrid technology.
Clamping belts:
- Stretching from the front and rear hook (Combi)
- Using the front mounting tension without heel (classic)
- Using the front mounting tension with the heel (Tip & Tail).
The first method of mounting is suitable for transitions, when they often give lower bands (output belts and downhill without bars). Avoid it is so that the ends of the strips to stick longer.
The second method of clamping is suitable for racing or mountain walks, where bands often do not give down. Such sheets can be used for various lengths of skis.
The third way of mounting is that the strip is easier to put on and crank can be available with the differences of 10-15 cm.
However, if you would like to life belts persisted for as long as possible, therefore you have to do something and you. Care of strips is important !!! :)
Advice on how to be the bands start:
- Never expose the heat strips
- protect belts from direct light and sunlight
- strips to dry in a dark room with a room temperature (without protective coating, not in the pocket of the belt)
- belts for bag straps put off dry as a protective coating
- in your pocket for their bands put off dry, with a protective coating
